B-29 Superfortress Aircraft
The B-29 Superfortress was developed to replace the B-17 Flying Fortress and the B-24 Liberator. It was designed to fly faster, further, and carry heavier payloads than the previous models, thus the "Very Heavy Bomber" designator. It was introduced into the Pacific theater to support the bombing of Japan during World War 2, in an effort to diminish and disable Japan's ability to produce and maintain its efforts during the war. The B-29 bomber was instrumental in stopping Japan's efforts to take over the Pacific and bring WW2 to a close.
